→ GENERAL QUESTIONS
1. What are the different permits for asylum seekers?
Permis B réfugié-e-s
Issued when Switzerland recognizes that the person has suffered, or is at risk of suffering, persecution in his/her country of origin as defined in the Geneva Convention relating to the Status of Refugees.

Permit C refugees
‍Issued
when a person recognized as a refugee obtains a settlement permit, after having resided in Switzerland for a certain number of years on a refugee permit B and fulfilled inclusion conditions.

Permis F réfugié-e-s
‍Delivered
to people whose refugee status is recognized, but who are refused asylum by Switzerland on the grounds that the reasons for flight occurred after leaving the country.

‍PermisF (provisional admission)
Protection granted to people who do not obtain refugee status but whose removal is impossible, inexcusable or unlawful because it would endanger their lives (war, widespread violence, risk of death penalty or torture, etc.).

Permis N

Document attesting to the fact that the person is in the asylum procedure, awaiting a decision.

‍StatutS
Protection granted to a specific group exposed to serious general danger. The persons concerned are admitted rapidly, without going through an ordinary asylum procedure. This status was activated for the first time in 2022, for refugees from Ukraine.
2. Are refugees allowed to work?
Yes, regardless of their status (refugee B or C permit, F permit or S status). People whose asylum procedure is still under review (N permit) also have the right to work after 3 to 6 months in Switzerland. Employment may be limited to certain sectors, and priority must in principle be given to residents.

For further information, see the brochure "Réfugié.es & emploi" available here.
3. What is the procedure for hiring a young person with refugee status?
To hire a person holding a B refugee, F refugee or F permit, simply fill in an advertisement form on the EasyGov.swiss online counter, or via the advertisement form available on the portal of the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM).

In the case of an N permit or S status, the employer must first apply for authorization from the relevant cantonal authority, which checks that the working conditions are met.

Canton of Geneva: OCPM
Canton of Vaud: SPOP

For more information, see the brochure "Réfugié.es & emploi" available here.
4. Is it possible to employ a young person who has an OCPM work permit but no residence permit?
Yes, the only constraint is that you must have previously informed the competent cantonal authority using a form on the website.

In Geneva, this is the OCPM: https: //www.ge.ch/demander-permis-travail
5. What geographical regions does Yojoa currently operate in?
At present, Yojoa operates mainly in Switzerland. However, as the needs and obstacles linked to the professional integration of young people from a migrant background are present throughout Switzerland, Yojoa aims to expand into other regions in the near future, particularly in the German-speaking part of the country.

→ I'd like to develop diversity and inclusion policies within my company
1. What services can I take advantage of?
- Training courses on diversity and inclusion (D&I), unconscious bias, discrimination, racism and sexism.
- Tailor-made training courses adapted to your organization's needs.
- Data collection on your organization (current diversity situation and organizational culture).
- Support for the development of tools (D&I charter, inclusive internal policies, etc.).
- Offering opportunities for employee involvement through skills volunteering.
2. What are the costs associated with your services?
As our services are tailor-made, our prices vary. Contact us to discuss your requirements and we'll provide you with a quote/offer.
3. Can you help us define a long-term diversity and inclusion strategy?
Yes, our comprehensive support is divided into several stages. We start by taking stock of the level of diversity present within the organization, and carry out a survey of the organizational culture to assess how inclusive the organization feels. Where necessary, we train employees on inclusion and diversity issues and help the organization to develop tools (inclusive internal policies, charter, etc.).
4. How do you adapt your solutions to our company's specific needs?
We always start with a needs assessment. Then we design our workshops to suit your situation in terms of content, format and target audience.

It all depends on your needs and the type of support you require. It can range from a half-day or a full day for a training session, to full support over several months or even years.
6. What is the size of the companies and organizations you usually work with?
We work with a wide variety of companies and organizations, ranging from the private sector to public authorities, institutions and non-profit organizations. Companies vary widely in size and sector of activity.
7. How can I get my team involved through skills volunteering?
You can get your team involved for a day through skills volunteering. This workshop is an opportunity for your employees to share their skills and experience with the young people monitored by Yojoa, through coaching and mock job interviews.

Collaboration between external companies and young people is an enriching experience for all concerned. It enables companies to show solidarity and develop the skills of their employees, while offering young people the opportunity to meet professionals, prepare for the world of work and improve their future prospects.
